| This website is for anyone looking for free language resources in many of the
Indo-European languages. Currently, there are 15 language tutorials
available - three of which are not Indo-European languages - and
2 comparative tutorials for studying two languages simultaneously.
Mp3s are also available for the
French tutorials to aid with pronunciation, and interactive exercises
are currently available for the French
Slang and German I tutorials.
Recently, I've started working on a project to convert the Foreign Service Institute language courses into HTML pages. You can download the FSI courses in PDF format for
free (they are in the public domain) at FSI
Language Courses. I'm also incorporating the mp3s into each
unit, beginning with the French and German Basic Courses.
Other major sections of this
site are the Assistants in France program,
which includes an extensive guide to
being an English language assistant as well as all of my English
as a Second Language
lesson plans to download, and Expats
in France, which includes practical information about
immigrating to France and adjusting to French life.
The menu on the left will lead
you to the majority of the pages available. If you'd like to see
every page that exists on this site, please go to the site
map.
If you want to know what's new
on the site, check the latest updates.
In addition to the FSI project, I plan to work on the comparative
tutorials, add more French mp3s and realia resources, expand
the Expats in France section, and create interactive exercises
for French and German.
Feel free to use these tutorials
for your own personal, educational use in or outside of the classroom.
I've tried to make the tutorials easy to copy and paste into a
word processer for printing. If you want to print from your web
browser, it may be better to highlight the text and choose the
print range Selection.
Also, I
update my
blog almost every other day with topics relevant to
learning languages, teaching English, living in France,
etc. for anyone who is interested.
Lastly, if you'd like to contribute
resources to ielanguages.com, please let me know. And if you're
feeling generous, Paypal donations
can be sent to: ielanguages [at] gmail

Happy language learning!
